A long time ago…


It was June of 1989, I was 16, and I had just returned from a three month hike by myself, mostly of living off the land. My mom welcomed me home and my sister put a sticker on the resulting photo.

A little bit earlier… my sister, Ginny, and I had baked a cake, so we could enjoy it with tea, using a toy oven with an incandescent light bulb… it fascinated me no end that we could bake a for real cake using the light bulb. This foreshadowed my lifelong interest in science.
